Here is the beginning, all the deck hardware has been removed.
The top lamination was easily removed because it had become completely delaminated.
These shots show how bad the rot was. All the wood was soaking wet, and pulled apart like barbequed pork. The vast majority of it could be simply lifted out by hand. No tools needed. The previous owner had let both the bow eye and thelifting eye stay loose. Many years of water had soaked in resulting in this.
Got a little wild with the grinder, that just makes more work for another day.
