I've been working on the console too. I made it out of 1/4" coosa laminated with 2 layers of 1.5 oz. mat on one side and 2 layers of the mat and one of 1808 on the other. I layed it up on a waxed melamine sheet to make a smooth surface. I then glued it up with epoxy and 1808 on the inside.
I then shot a coat of "primer" on it, which was actually gelcoat, so that I could see what needed to be faired. It really makes all the flaws pop out!! Still plenty of fairing to be done, finish gelcoating, and then paint the inside with epoxy paint.
