Transom Project 2

Page 20

I don't have pictures of everything I did today... I was working. I laid a fillet around the perimeter of the floor and let that begin to set. Once that was set I went about putting down the fiberglass. I placed 2 layers of 1808DB and then a layer of 6oz cloth for smoothness. So 42 total oz of glass on the top side should give more than enough strength.

My wife, Kristie, was nice enough to come out and take a few pictures of the work in progress.

There I am stretching the back and legs. My shorts are glued to my legs and my arm hair is all matted together with glue. I busted my ass multiple times getting out of the boat today. I'll surely pay for all that tomorrow. I put in a solid 14 hour day today. The temp stayed in the 60's all day, so the resin kicked slow. The temp had dropped into the low 50's by the time Kristie took these pictures on me.

Here's the finished product... For today. I didn't glass the drainage channels... I just didn't have the time. I worked until about 8:00 at night and cleaned up. I pulled the cover to keep the dew out and put some halogen lights in the boat to keep it warm for the resin to set. I'll make a sanding tool for the drainage channels and sand them and then glass them next week.... Hopefully if my back has recovered

Here I am getting ready to take a bath in vinegar to get the epoxy resin off of me.
