Transom Project 2 |
Page 5

I used a flat pry bar, chisels, screw drivers, and a skil saw to remove the two 3/4" sheets of plywood.

The best technique to remove the plywood was to cut the wood into small sections and remove each section individually.

I used cardboard to make a template for the new core.

I filled the garbage can with the nasty old wood.

The majority of the fiberglass skin is still covered with a very thin layer of the plywood. I began to chisel it out, but the sun went down and the mosquitoes became bothersome. Next week, I plan to chisel out what I can and then grind the rest out with a 36grit disk on my grinder. Once all of that is done, I will begin prepping to put the new core in the transom.
