I paid the fine folks at bateau.com/eboats.net down in Vero a visit and picked up the plywood I'd be needing for this project. I got 2 sheets of 3/4 and 1 sheet of 1/2" Meranti BS 1088. This is some serious stuff. 13 plys in the 3/4" stock.

I also received my new Seamount bracket from CL Mattson in Tampa. They do very nice work.

My Airmar 260B ducer arrived from Lowrance. Man, that sucker's huge!

The fairing block next to a size 11 flip-flop!

And finally, I made a trip over to my buddy Steve's house. He was kind enough to loan me a killer boat cover so I can work out of the rain and hot sun. I got as far as assembling it. Now I just need a small army of people to help me stand the thing up.

After a marathon session of cutting various size pieces of 3/4 oz mat and 1708 stitch mat, I got busy laying some glass. Got all the panels glassed into the side boxes.

While that was kicking off, I got to work on the forward fish box lid. It's been beaten up and abused pretty badly in the last few years and was way overdue for repair. So I spent several hours grinding away gel-coat and damaged glass on the underside. Very tedious work due to all of the different angles, recess and high spots.

I also got the outer skin panel glassed into the transom and repaired glassed/ground several other areas on the transom that needed it (old thru hulls, screw holes, etc). Still have a little work to do on the inside but its almost there.

I also filled in the thru hulls for the livewell and bilge pump drains. These will all be relocated forward slightly once the new transom is in place.

The old ducer had to come out to make room for the new Airmar. I had just glassed it in flush before. With a little careful grinder work, I was able to get it out with no damage.

The chine areas on the upper reaches of the bilge area had low spots that could and did trap water. Previously, they'd gone un-noticed because Mako had glassed a board over this area to provide a flat shelf for mounting batteries and oil tanks. It was bugging me so I took some time to fill these areas in and build them up a bit.
