I
did manage to get my plywood core
sections glassed together last night. First step was a good wet layer of resin
catalyzed at 1% (I'm using Vinylester on this project btw) so it would kick
slowly and really sink in. The Meranti really soaked it in well.

When that had cured to the point that it would take a fingerprint but not stick to my hand real hard, I wet it again and laid a piece of 3/4 mat. I wet that out well, rolled it in and put the two pieces of wood together. Weighted them down with some bags of concrete and let it setup. Notice the bags laying around the edges? I put those there to keep the top piece of wood held in place. The garage floor isn't perfectly level to facilitate drainage and the top piece would slowly creep out of position without those bags around it. This was all done in the garage too btw - the house really stunk last night...

If it isn't raining this evening, I hope to grind the rough edges off this part, dry fit it in the boat and drill the bracket mounting holes. I'll also do a little sanding on my outer transom skin and corner boxes.
I got some new toys
in yesterday too.
New tabs and actuators from Bennett Marine...

NMEA 2000 gauges, harnesses and sensors from Lowrance...

And the big prize - a new LCX-111C color sounder. Can't wait to play with this bad boy...
