Next on the agenda was replacement of the stringer sections I'd cut out. Let me just say for the record that installing these was by far the most difficult part of the project to date. Those things were pure evil. I modeled these knee-type stringer sections after many other's I've seen on here.

Then they were buttered up and filleted in with a mixture of resin and milled fibers.



Each got a layer of 3/4 oz mat and 3 progressively larger layers of 1708.



Then I installed a wood scab over the joint and followed with 3 more progressively larger layers of 1708. For the scabs, I used some leftover 3/4 ply screwed into place with 2" stainless steel screws.

And all seams on the stringers got 3 more progressively larger layers of 1708, bringing the total to 6 layers. Overkill? I hope so.
