Got started on the project this past Sunday. The first step was to bring her home where I could work on her at my leisure. Next, I removed all of the hardware on the transom and got busy with my trusty grinder. A cut off wheel in a 4.5 inch grinder can do some amazing stuff... ;)

I found this under the rub rail on the port corner of the transom.

Some more damage exposed after removing the aluminum trim...

These little plugs appear to be bondo. They were used to fill engine mounting holes used at some point in the past. Not the way I would have done it. They popped right out...

This transom was cut with an extra notch somewhere along the way. This thin little skin of glass was all that was protecting the core underneath.

The thru hull drain tubes showed some more signs of a damaged core...
