It has been way too cold...brrr. It has been in the teens for 3 straight days. Even with the kerosene heater on hi it wouldn't even start to warm up the garage. I pulled the center hatch off so I can work on that in the basement until the cold spell breaks. It needs serious attention too, so at least I can work on something. I also have the leaning post frame down there that needs some sort of seat/box/pole holder thing made. I have plenty of work to keep me busy. I will send pics as I move along on those projects until it warms up a little. I'm not so sure my baby will see the water by spring, but I'm tryin'... Has anyone made any sort of custom leaning post? I have seen a lot of designs I like, but they are a little too complicated to make from scratch. I want something simple and functional, but still want it to look good.

After a lot of thinking and a few wasted pieces of scrap wood I finally decided on what I wanted to do with my leaning post frame. I decided to keep it real simple so I could try my hand at making a mold. I thought about making a wood core and glassing over it, but after seeing my transom, there will be little or no wood on this boat again ! I used 3/4 MDF for the mold since it is nice and smooth and doesn't flex or warp like plywood. I just about finished up all the fillets today, I will finish the rest tomorrow and should be laying glass on Monday. I am using a 1" PVC elbow for a filleting tool and used a 4" PVC coupler for the big corners. I am spending lots of time sanding and smoothing before the glass goes in. This should save me a lot of fairing later on.
