Time for a few pics and answer a couple of questions. I am not going to paint the bottom with antifowl paint but with 2 stage polyurethane (imron or equivalent) I trailer my boats. As you can see in the photo my son and I are scraping off the old paint. lucky it wasn't stuck real well.

Here is a pic of the first side sanded and a few dock rashes filled.

Just a safety note I used 4 boat stands and also suspended the front half with the overhead crane. I found no blisters under the paint and the sides are strait. Mako did there homework when this mold was built. This is a 79 so it is early in production before the molds were worn some.
I plan on running 2 engines just like my 20(will be for sale) I run a medium
size main engine in the center and a 25 horse aux. beside it. This way I have 2
power units, 2 charging systems, one can be rope started if necessary. I troll
countless hours for salmon up here and the 25 does a great job. The 25 has
remote steer, start, and controls. Those scuppers can be bought at boat
recyclers of Wilmington. Phone 1-910-793-8890 last I new he had a box of them. I
paid 10 bucks each. Look at the pics to see how I modified them.
I have new respect and awe for those people that refinish boat bottoms for a living. I have scraped and sanded till I am blue in the face (literally) The bottom is now clean and sanded with 120 grit. a few gouges filled with epoxy and cabosil. I also filled in a bunch of pin holes in the epoxy finish on the transom. these weren't very noticeable but it is easy to do now.
I have decided to paint the outside of the boat a light blue. This will be after
2 or 3 light coats of epoxy primer. Might spray tomorrow afternoon if my
shoulders come back to life.
