Console went in tonight. I was going to trailer the console to the local boatyard and have them sling it in, but we could not get the schedules to work out, so I improvised. It was suggested that I get 4 - 5 guys and lift it in, but after all the work, I was nervous of someone slipping in and edge digging into the Awlgrip. Instead, I applied a little thought and borrowed a neighbors tree.

The branch was about 10" in diameter and plenty strong. It never bent and I used a come-a-long to lift the console up enough to clear the engine well cutout and the boat was simply backed in.

-note the transom, it needed a little touch up and gets re-gelcoated later this week. Even if delayed, I have plenty of other work to get done before the motor is mounted.

Here it is placed and it started getting a little dark.

I placed the splash door and leaning post in to get an idea of what it would look like and everything fit very well. I'll get images tomorrow when there is more light.

I'm slowly moving toward the finish and hope to get some good work done over the 4 days off over the holiday. Distractions are already kicking in with people calling me since we usually have a big get together with a raft of 10 - 20 boats over the weekend.

The wiring is the focus at this point and I stopped by by friends place and made up some cables. He owns the Rolls (Surrette) distributorship for New England and also distributes Gel, AGM batteries and Nautilus. I dropped by at lunch today and made the cables up with Magnalug heavy terminals with 2 gauge wire and heat shrinked for $80 (cost). This would have been over $350 at the box boat store. Not to mention these lugs are have 3X more material to them than the Anchor brand and the heat shrink is commercial grade and quite thick.

I opted for 2 Nautilas Gold batteries since the sexier batteries will not offer me any added benefit, just cost (this is based on how I will use this boat). Due to the ride of the 21' I'm doing everything I can to bias the weight forward and put the batteries in the very front of the console. The console is also mounted 3" further forward. I'm trying to make the boat less "tab happy" and ride better.

There is a lot more wiring that still needs to be done.
