I got so sick of not being able to work on the boat in the rain that I wedged it in between some trees and strung up the tarp. Note the neglected Yamaha. If it’s not one project, it’s another, right? (I actually have another of the same bike in my dad’s garage awaiting paint)

Hull paint is four coats of sprayed-on Interlux Brightside Polyurethane, Dark Blue. The white is two coats of sprayed-on Pettit Easypoxy White. The teak was sanded with 60 grit, then 120 grit, then 4 coats of Cetol Amber were brushed on, and then two coats of Cetol Clear. I’ll try to get a closer shot of that soon. The bottom is awaiting my drive-to-Dad’s-house-to-exchange-his-air-compressor-for-a-gallon-of-bottom-paint trip. It’ll be black, and there will be white striping at the water line.

I had to go stomping through the boat with my muddy feet. Shucks, it’s probably the cleanest it will be for a long long long time. The deck is plain-ol’ West Marine gray, coat and a half, hand brushed. I was gonna put some non-skid grit in it, but there was enough roughness to it from the previous owner’s application even after two coats of Z-Spar primer and then the gray paint. Here you can see that the console isn’t in yet… I need to figure out a way to snake the Garmin 160 Fishfinder cable from the through-hull back through the bilge and up through the access.

Since I don’t really fish that much, I’ll probably seal up those holes on the inside of the livewells (there was a nice piece of teak on the outside) and fill the double wall with foam and use it as a cooler.

The picture of the console shows the base I made out of PVC board to replace the rotten wood that it sat on previously and to raise it 2 inches. I’m 6’3”, and that little console is about knee height when I stand. I’m wondering if I should have made the base even taller.

All that’s left is re-rigging. I’m told that Suzuki 75 has only 38 hours since the rebuild, but it will certainly go to the shop before it goes in the water.
