I took the opportunity to make and install ipe trim around the anchor locker in the bow and the two openings in the console.

Rick used ipe because it has all of the qualities of teak, hard, water and rot resistant as well as a beautiful chocolate color.  Teak is $13 a board foot.  Ipe is $4 a board foot.  This was a no brainer.  The screw holes have been bunged with ipe plugs and seated with silicone.  Once the adhesive cured, the bungs were sanded flush.


With the primer sanded smooth a coat of blue two part epoxy topcoat was applied.


Finished!!


Here is the mako finally back in Chatham sitting on her mooring with some of the family's fleet of small craft.
